Clare holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Genealogical Studies from the University of Strathclyde and has completed a wide range of additional training in:

• Scottish and UK social history

• WW1 and WW2 military history

• Migration and imperial history

• Palaeography (early Scottish handwriting)

• Family history research methods

• Using archives, museums, and online sources for genealogy

• ​Creative Writing

She’s a firm believer in lifelong learning describing herself as a habitual learner, she regularly undertakes specialist courses to stay current in the ever-evolving field of genealogy.

• Archivist for 102 (Ceylon) Squadron Association (RAF Bomber Command)

• Researcher for the Aircrew Remembrance Society

• Works in partnership with WW2 museums and historical societies

• Former Vice President of a Scottish Clan Association (11 years)

• Former committee member of a Local Family History Society (4 years)

• Creator of a museum-based family history exhibit showcasing one individual’s life from childhood to wartime

• Trained interviewer of war veterans with an international museum

• Volunteer contributor to war graves databases and online history archives

• Speaker and workshop leader on family history and genealogical research

• New Monkland Parish (Airdrie) – now a registered One-Place Study

• Allied Air Force research – particularly WW2 losses and memorials

• Historic true crime – especially Victorian-era infanticide and unsolved cases
