Bomber Command Researcher shines light on Barmby Moor War Graves

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

I am pleased to say that since the launch of my new project ‘The War Dead of St Catherine’s, Barmby Moor’ was released on the 75th Anniversary of VE Day (8th May 2020) the project has attracted much attention worldwide.

Many worldwide Organisations, Museums & Individuals have taken the time to read through the project, interact with it & many have shared the link onto their own websites & social media.

A lot of the men buried at Barmby Moor served with 102 Squadron who were based at nearby RAF Pocklington. 102 Squadron Association have recently run announcements via their website & Social Media & are in the process of creating links for each of the men of the Squadron so that researchers in the future can easily find the information gathered on each of these men via my website.

The local Council have also been in touch to congratulate me on the work & have placed information & links regarding the project on their website so that local residents can easily find out information on the men buried in their local graveyard.

I was also approached by a reporter from the Pocklington Post who ran an article on the project just last week.

Article in Pocklington Post 27th May 2020

All in all, the feedback has been amazing & I am so glad that 75 years on from the end of the war in Europe each of these men can be remembered for the sacrifice they each made!

So whats next?

There are some men who were harder to research & I still await a few documents which should shed some light on who they were. Once obtained & researched, the additional information will be included.

But the project has given me some ideas for further projects so watch this space!
